Morro Bay Engagement | Matt + Lindsey

While he was traveling through Italy back in July, Matt texted me to ask if I would be available to photograph his proposal + I literally starting banging on my keyboard out of pure excitement. Matt has been like family to me since the day I met him; he has always been there for a restoring heart to heart, a safe place to vent or cry or laugh until we are crying! His heart for people is as pure as it gets. So when josh + I were planning our wedding, we knew there was no one more perfect to officiate our special day other than Matt. He knew our relationship inside + out, coached us through some very dark places + ultimately made our ceremony perfect with his love + the words he spoke into us as Josh + I became husband + wife. So to get the text that is was Matt’s time to pursue marriage, I literally lost it. Laughing, screaming, crying. All. The. Feels.

The day of the proposal came + everything was perfect. Lindsey was driven to the winery where she was handed a letter, blindfolded + driven up the hill over looking the neighboring wineries. She took Matts hand as he removed the blindfold + began to read her a journal entry that he wrote the day he took her on their first date. He moment he knew she was it, she was the one. She was his lobster. He read her a passage of scripture, dropped down on one knee + asked her to be his forever partner. I was shaking + crying, the other friends hiding in the vines were jumping up + down. Champagne was popped as we celebrate the first step in their marriage together.

The surprises didn’t end for Lindsey on top of that hill either, their families were waiting at the bottom with lunch + hugs all around. A few hours later, all of their close friends were waiting at a house in Morro Bay to celebrate, hear the story, toast to their forever + pray over their journey into marriage. Then, we headed out to the beach to do their engagement session while all of the feels were at the surface. All of the smiles, giggles, + the joy of whats to come. It was a perfect day with perfect memories.

Lindsey, thank you for loving our Matt so well. For already being there for him through the good + the bad, the sickness + the health. For being his safety, his comfort + his other half. You are a gem among us + I cannot wait to get to know you more over the years to come. Congratulations to you both. Over + over + over again.

Xoxo, Cate
